blueDriveTM Photothermal Excitation Frequently Asked Questions

چکیده

Asylum Research’s blueDrive Photothermal Excitation option for the Cypher STM and Cypher ESTM atomic force microscopes (AFMs) makes tapping mode techniques simpler, more stable, and more quantitative. Tapping mode is by far the dominant choice in the world of AFM, measuring not just topography, but also mechanical, electrical, and magnetic properties. Typically, piezoacoustic excitation is used to drive the cantilever oscillation. Though piezo drive is favored for design simplicity, the response of the cantilever is often far from ideal. Asylum’s blueDrive excitation mechanism produces an almost perfect response by directly exciting the cantilever photothermally. This provides significant performance and ease of use benefits for all tapping mode techniques.

Efficiency improvement in the cantilever photothermal excitation method using a photothermal conversion layer

Photothermal excitation is a cantilever excitation method that enables stable and accurate operation for dynamic-mode AFM measurements. However, the low excitation efficiency of the method has often limited its application in practical studies. In this study, we propose a method for improving the photothermal excitation efficiency by coating cantilever backside surface near its fixed end with c...

Photothermal bleaching in time-lapse photoacoustic microscopy.

We studied the phenomenon of photothermal bleaching - a gradual reduction of contrast agent particles during repeated scans in photoacoustic microscopy. The dependence of the photothermal bleaching rate on the excitation pulse energy, pulse duration, and the absorber's size was determined while the laser focal diameter was held constant. Our results showed that, the dependence of the phototherm...

Steady-state absorption rate models for use in relaxation rate studies with continuous laser excited photothermal lens spectrometry.

This paper examines the solutions of kinetic rate equations for prediction of the photothermal lens signals under irradiance conditions that can lead to optical saturation or bleaching. The relaxation kinetics resulting from forcing excited state populations in multiple levels by high excitation irradiance continuous lasers is examined and irradiance-dependent photothermal lens signals are pred...

Wideband low-noise optical beam deflection sensor with photothermal excitation for liquid-environment atomic force microscopy.

I developed a wideband low-noise optical beam deflection sensor with a photothermal cantilever excitation system for liquid-environment atomic force microscopy. The developed sensor has a 10 MHz bandwidth and 4.7 fm/sq.rt.Hz deflection noise density in water. The theoretically limited noise performance (i.e., the noise level limited only by the photodiode shot noise) has been achieved in liquid...

Combinatorial Photothermal and Immuno Cancer Therapy Using Chitosan-Coated Hollow Copper Sulfide Nanoparticles

Near-infrared light-responsive inorganic nanoparticles have been shown to enhance the efficacy of cancer photothermal ablation therapy. However, current nanoparticle-mediated photothermal ablation is more effective in treating local cancer at the primary site than metastatic cancer. Here, we report the design of a near-infrared light-induced transformative nanoparticle platform that combines ph...
